Huntier Guide

What is Huntier?

—Huntier is a hosting platform between landowners and hunters. It is a “virtual handshake” between the landowner and the hunter, sportsman, or birdwatcher. Huntier is the new frontier for hunting and all things outdoors.

What is a hunting or land lease?

—A hunting or land lease is an agreement between the lessor (landowner) and a lessee (hunter) that allows the hunter to hunt on a defined land for a specified time period.

Types of leases

—There are many types of lease formats available including species specific and time periods (daily, weekly, seasonally, yearly). With Huntier, the landowner, has complete control of the time period(s) that the land is open for hunting as well as the species that are available to hunt. For example, land can be set up for lease of duck and goose hunting while protecting your upland and deer populations.

Average hunting lease cost

—The leasing price varies based on game available, exclusivity, acreage, additional amenities (such as availability of duck blinds, decoys, hunting dog use, camping grounds, availability of private guiding services, etc.). Average cost ranges between $10-$50/acre per hunting season. For example, 1 section (640 acres) would net $6,400 for exclusive rights for the duck hunting season (at minimum). You could expect a higher income with implementation of above-noted amenities. For single day leasing, the recommendation would be between $50-$100/day for waterfowl, $100+/day for pheasant hunting, etc.

— It is not a requirement to list your land on Huntier. However, it is recommended you speak with your farm and ranch insurance policy representative to ensure that leasing your land for hunting would be a covered activity.

3. How many hunters are allowed on my land by leasing?

—The landowner sets the limit for hunters on their property per the lease agreement. The average lease agreement generally consists of 5-8 hunters, however the number of hunters able to access your land is completely in your control.

4. How do I guarantee quality hunters?

—Huntier has integrated a rating system which is used as a means to establish high quality landowner/hunter relationships.

5. How do I get paid?

—During the setup process, you will enter your confidential banking information through our secure website. Huntier’s third-party processor (Stripe) will hold your account information securely. Once a property is booked, the transaction amount will be deposited into your account after 48 hours.

6. How much can I expect to make?

—This will vary based on amount of land available, species available, etc. For example, if you have a section of land that is known to carry pheasants, you could earn around $6,400 or upward per hunting season. If you have multiple sections available, your potential income could be much higher.

7. Do I need to be present during the hunt?

—No, you are not required to be present for the booking. The hunters will be given GPS coordinates to the property. Once a property is booked, a secure in-application messaging system will allow you to communicate with the hunter directly (without giving out your personal cell number) to provide them with any additional instructions.

8. If I lease out my land, can my family and friends still hunt on it?

—Absolutely. When setting up your account, you can specify each section of land independently. You will be able to create a custom schedule for when your land is available for lease and what species are available to hunt. On the days that are listed as unavailable, you and your family can hunt without any concern for others using your property.
